"WEBQUEST"

I have been reading about “ web quest” and what the author mention is that a “web quest” is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the web. Web quest are designed to use the learners time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and support learners thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.

PROS

·         STUDENTS CENTRED ACTIVITY
·         ENCOURAGES HIGHER LEVEL THINKING
·         INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP WORK
·         STRUCUTURED/MONITORED USE OF INTERNET
·         FOSTERS CREATIVITY AND IMAGINATION
·         UTILIZES PROBLEM-SOLVING/COMMUNICATION SKILLS
·         DIFFERETIATED
·         SINGLE DISCIPLINE OR INTERDISCIPLINARY

CONS
·         A LOT OF PREPARATION TIME

In conclusion I can mention that this inquiry-oriented activity  is really good for students, because the learners make use of the tools that the internet offers which make to the learner the wish of investigate about the topics.
A second point is that web quest makes the students develop a critical thought, creativity, the imagination and the skill of making decisions about things they get during the investigation.

This link is about the importance of teaching English through the games.

PROJECT BASED LEARNING

During the last week I've learnt about PBL: which is the use of a demanding schoolroom projects to facilitate learning and assess student proficiency. This project was promoted by the Buck Institute for Education in the late 1990s.

This project makes the student become autonomous and he can develop valued research skills as students engage in design, problem solving, choice making, and fact-finding deeds

IN THIS IMAGE IS EXPOSED THE PROJECT-BASED TEACHING STRATEGY

The "PBL"  stresses education activities that are durable  . Distinct  to the traditional, teacher-led classroom accomplishments, learners  often must establish their own work and succeed their own time in a project-based class. Project-based teaching varies from traditional review by its emphasis on students' collaborative or individual item construction to represent what is being learned.

READING AND WRITING SKILLS

This last week i've been reading some articles about how to develop good activities for reading and writing skiils, and i have found a really interesting page which is http://www.manythings.org/e/easy.html, where you can play a lot of games and make easier and entertained the use of these skills.

Because of it's through computer is clear that we have to use the reading and in this case because it's with the use of games is something fun, for that reasons to develop activities of writing and reading I would apply this kind of pages to my students to increase their reading and writing skills.

Aural & Oral Skills

AURAL & ORAL SKILLS or also called like listening and speaking are two different skills that at the same time are very relationated, because at the moment of using one the you also use the second one.
The two most basic language skills, listening and speaking, sound exactly alike when we describe them as oral and aural skills. “Aural” language, of course, refers to language as we hear it. “Oral” language is what we say.

These two words are “homophones” – words spelled differently that sound alike. There is no good reason why they should be homophones, but they are. Perhaps that accident of spelling can serve as a reminder that, while these two skills cannot be separated, they need to be developed in different ways.

One reasonable conclusion from these observations is that language learners should understand what they are listening to before they begin to speak. Especially at the initial phase of language acquisition, teachers should avoid oral practice to some degree. Instead, they should have their students concentrate on comprehending what they hear. This idea parallels the experience of young children, who spend almost two years in linguistic silence before they begin to speak.

remember: that each linguistic skills deserves special focus in appropiate doses.
for listening skills take into account sts (interests, goals), use authentic material in real situations, be sure that sts have understood what they have listened.
use every activity with a clear objective according the sts level.
it's not just play the audio or speak aloud, is support sts before, during and after the listening activities.

Bookmarking

This week I have learnt to use a little bit more "Delicious.com".
The advantage that I consider the most important is that you can save your favorites pages, but for me it's just that a easy way to go to another page.
I think this is the function of Delicious, but some computers have their own bookmarking and easier like google chrome:

of course it must be yours for you to have your favourites pages saved.

Of course these are social networks as in all of them you can save your favourites pages.
as: in facebook, blog , myspace.

I know DELICIOUS.COM is only used for this and this is its principal function.

It depends on you which of those webpages you prefer.

in the next webpage are some advantages and disadvantages of using bookmarking:

ABOUT WIKI

WIKI is a good page where you can share any type of info with anyone you want .
some advantages are that is really easy to modify your profile and at the moment .
WIKI gives to the users the freedom to do whatever they want with it .

In my  personal opinion I think that is good page, but on the other hand to have a profile in this website is hard , stressful and boring , because you have to be checking every day what happens with it and sometimes to try to check every profile you have is so hard . For example I have 4 different profiles and i have to be checkin every day what is going on with them and sometimes I get confuse and that gets me mad .

In conclussion I can say that everyone has to decide what kind of website is the most appropiate for them , and try to work with it. Everyone of them are O.K.  it depends in the use you give them.

A.B.C.D. METHOD

During this week I 've learned the concepts of  A.B.C.D. method,  which is a excellent tool that english teachers can use to have  better way of teaching because in the method it show us all the points that we must have in mind to be able to know what to do and what not do during a class , this is beacuse we have check our points which are : audience , behavior , condition and degree.

this is what every word mean:

Audience
 – Who? Who are your learners?
·  Behavior – What? What do you expect them to be able to do? This should be an overt, observable behavior, even if the actual behavior is covert or mental in nature. If you can't see it, hear it, touch it, taste it, or smell it, you can't be sure your audience really learned it.
·  Condition – How? Under what circumstances or context will the learning occur? What will the student be given or already be expected to know to accomplish the learning?
·  Degree – How much? How much will be accomplished, how well will the behavior need to be performed, and to what level? Do you want total mastery (100%), do you want them to respond correctly 80% of the time, etc. A common (and totally non-scientific) setting is 80% of the time.
